UGANDA–TANZANIA OIL PIPELINE AND REFINERY PROJECT REFLECT THE SUCCESS OF ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY
By Albert Kawogo THE Uganda–Tanzania oil pipeline project, together with plans to construct an oil refinery, represents one of the clearest examples of how economic diplomacy can be transformed into tangible development opportunities. The cooperation between the two neighbouring countries demonstrates that diplomacy is no longer limited to political relations, official visits and bilateral agreements, but can also become a powerful instrument for attracting investment, expanding trade, strengthening energy security and creating opportunities for sustainable economic growth. The development of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline and the proposed refinery reflects the growing strategic partnership between Uganda and Tanzania in the energy sector.
